1948 Born in Sent, Engadine, Switzerland. Currently lives and works in New York, Lucca, Sent and Agadez, Niger.
His varied work consists of graphics, photography, sculptures and assemblages with all sorts of material such as bronze, stone, wood, iron or leather, even salt.
At Sent Not Vital is laying out an artist’s garden, the “Parkin”, an example for several comprehensive architectural projects he is constantly realizing.

The figure, which represents the famous ballet dancer Nijinski, was erected close to Daniel Spoerri’s house for a good reason. Spoerri was also a dancer before he began his career as an artist. Not Vital knew this when he picked this gift for the Giardino. Nijinski’s high leaps from a standing position were legendary. He leapt, quite unexpectedly and one final time into the air when he had reached an advanced age and had long left the stage behind him. A photographer captured the moment. Not Vital’s sculpture is based on that photograph.
