The idea for this installation came about in conjunction with a project by Jean Tinguely: the »Cyclops«, a large sculpture that Tinguely produced near Paris. Dieter Roth had planned a machine that would transform all entered written statements into sounds. However, the project was discarded and only 20 years later was it realised in the »Giardino«. In accordance with Dieter Roth’s wishes, the device was installed beneath a tree. Bells hang in the branches like hidden nests and issue sounds – voices in memory of Dieter Roth, who died shortly before he wanted to visit the »Giardino«.
