Daniel Spoerri was amazed by the Stone of Good Fortune in Johann Wolfgang Goethe’s summer house in Weimar. He was astounded by the modernness of the sculpture. He had it recreated for the Giardino. It would hardly occur to any visitor that this was a sculpture thought up in 1777. When a mathematician examined the stone, she found »that the golden section of a sphere matches precisely the dimensions of the cube that this sculpture encases virtually.« (Antonella Santarelli)
