In 1954 Daniel Spoerri returned to Bern, where he was hired as lead dancer
at the Municipal Theater. He also taught ballet himself and thus financed
his own theater experiments. As director he staged German premieres at
the Kleintheater in Bern, including “The Bald Soprano” by
Eugène Ionesco, “Desire trapped by the Tail” by Pablo
Picasso, furthermore at the Schauspielhaus in Düsseldorf “The
Gas Heart” by Tristan Tzara, among others.
