The book appeared on the occasion of Daniel Spoerri’s first exhibition
at the Galerie Lawrence in Paris and can be seen as a kind of theoretical
program for the “Snare-picture”. In this book, all objects
are described, which were lying on a kitchen table at a certain moment
in time. In later editions, comments and associations by Spoerri’s
friends Robert Filliou, Emmett Williams and Dieter Roth were added.
Recently at the Swiss National Library, which is responsible for the Spoerri
Archive, a series of readings took place, where the participants grappled
intensively with “Topography”.
At the Neue Museum Weserburg in Bremen extensive materials on the development
of this book are on display.
