Daniel Abadie, the director of the Jeu de Paume Museum in Paris, which
was formerly reserved for the Impressionists, succeeded in persuading
Daniel Spoerri to celebrate ten of his banquets in a huge event on several
evenings as a quotation of himself and a reference to his exhibition “
Restaurant de Galerie J” of 1963.
On each of these evenings, where the Butard & Enescot Company was
in charge of preparing the food, tables were also mounted. After 10 days
40 new snare-pictures were created: the actual exhibition at the Jeu de
Paume.
It is hardly possible to describe in a few words which logistical problems
needed to be overcome for this undertaking.
One can read about it in:
Galerie Henze & Ketterer, Catalog 72: Restaurant Spoerri au Jeu de
Paume; 88 S.
